COVID-19 Action Site

The COVID-19 Pandemic is unlike any challenge we’ve faced in our recent history. Now more than ever, we need our relationships with one another to ensure physical distancing does not lead to isolation. We need strong congregations, nonprofits, and neighborhood associations to serve as meditating institutions to help buffer and support families. We need the power of organized people to ensure that resources reach the most vulnerable
and policies benefit the whole.
Relational Organizing During this Crisis
For over 20 years, AMOS has used the habits and practices of organizing to assert the common good in public life. Over those years, in the midst of addressing serious issues, our best strategies
have emerged when we work together. We are employing these same strategies, sometimes with
new technological tools, during this crisis:
- Listen and caucus: Leaders in AMOS institutions are forming teams to reach out and
happening in people’s lives. Teams are then working with AMOS to caucus via phone
and Zoom and reflect on what they’ve heard.
- Conduct Research Actions: To understand this moment and how it is impacting us and
elected officials.
- Act strategically: AMOS is acting collectively on the local, state and federal level.
