Issue Teams
Rebuilding the Civic Sector
How Does AMOS Select Our Issues?
AMOS doesn't select from the menu of issues that politicians and the media put before us. Our agenda comes from the stories of thousands of ordinary people who have gathered together in small group "house meetings" organized by AMOS Then with the help of AMOS, the same people who have told their stories, identify the issues, develop issue investigative teams and then craft solutions to address the problem. The identified issues and crafted solutions become the agenda for which AMOS will advocate. We don't look to leaders to solve problems for us. We are the leaders who come together in core teams of 8 to 10 people who meet on a monthly basis to address our concerns. We do the research, we find the answers and we look to decisions makers to partner with us to address the concerns so that we create a community where all can succeed. AMOS member institutions have formed geographaphical clusters, with the Ames/Story County area forming one cluster and Des Moines Metropolitan area forming another. If you are interested in any of the above issues, you are encouraged to contact our AMOS organizers listed on the Contact Us Page or any of the contact people listed on the member institution page of an institution of your choice.
